New Delhi: A day after a serving CRPF commando Sujoy Mandal turned whistleblower on CNN-IBN, the CRPF has ordered an IG level inquiry into the allegations made.
The probe panel will constitute of a DIG level officer and three members from outside. This team will submit its report to the IG, Chhattisgarh CRPF.
The inquiry has also been mandated to look into allegations of coercion by superiors as claimed by Sujoy Mandal. The allegation of senior CRPF personnel not following Standard Operating Procedures and getting the commandos to travel in a double file is also being looked at.
The CRPF has so far denied allegations made by the Madal that many of the commandos had not gone through pre-induction training.
CNN-IBN had on Thursday learnt that CRPF's elite CoBRA battalion used the same route taken by a battalion the previous day. The route not being altered is a serious lapse of SOP. Sujoy Mandal alleged that Deputy Commander Ramesh Kumar Singh compromised the safety of the entire unit during the operation. He also added that no action was taken by the Deputy Commandant despite complaints from commandos.
