30-year-old Brazilian Woman, Who Broke Her Spine In Gym, Now A Champion Bodybuilder

These days, news of accidents happening in gyms often goes viral. Recently, a female lawyer faced a terrible gym accident, and doctors suggested that she might never be able to walk again. But with her strong willpower and hard work, she has become a champion bodybuilder.

According to reports, the name of the woman is Marcela Mendes Mancuso and she is 30 years old. One day, while she was working out in the gym, she was hanging down from a bar for an inverted sit-up when she slipped and fell to the floor. After this, she realised she had broken her spine, and the chances of recovery in such cases are very low and mostly depend on luck.

In a recent interview, Marcela shared her entire experience. She said that after the horrific accident in Sao Paulo, Brazil, she was unable to feel anything below her neck. She had to undergo serious surgery. Doctors inserted a titanium plate and six screws into her spine to strengthen the spinal cord. The operation was successful, but the doctors told her and her family members that she would probably never be able to walk again.

Marcela added that she was also struggling to move her fingers. She had to relearn basic life activities like grabbing and lifting objects. But she kept hoping and started recovering from the terrible injury. She practised her movements again and again. She made amazing improvements and finally decided to return to the gym to continue her workout routine once again.

Although she started professional weightlifting only two years ago. After she started going to the gym regularly one day, a young gym trainer insisted that she should participate in a bodybuilding championship. Initially, the idea seemed a bit strange to her. But Marcela’s trainer motivated and supported her a lot. The results were surprising as well as pleasing, and Marcela became the winner in her first championship.

Since then, Marcela has competed in numerous bodybuilding competitions. In total, she has won three gold medals and a crown. As per reports, Marcela is now preparing to take part in the upcoming Joe Weider’s Olympia Amateur Portugal.
