People across the world have different food preferences which might sound normal to some and disgusting to others. A video is currently going viral on Instagram, showing a digital creator smoking and frying a 12-foot python. The clip opens up with the man spraying water on the snake placed on a large stove. As users can see in the clip, many coals are placed under the stove to properly heat the serpent. The video further follows the creator pouring some spice on the snake for the taste. He then puts oil on the stove to deep fry the snake. As the video concludes, users can see the snake’s colour changing from orange to black. This clip has garnered more than 24 million views and counting.
Social media users didn’t appreciate the dish cooked by the creator and condemned him for his actions. One of them commented that along with the serpent’s meat, the creator has also ingested its venom. The highlight of the comment section was boxer and singer Abdu Rozik’s comment who also objected to the clip. Another user raised concern about the insides of the snake which have not been cleaned by the creator.
Are Pythons safe to eat? Yes, it is, according to a study published on March 14 in the Scientific Reports, a journal. As per the study, they have a lot of white meat rich in protein. For getting enough python meat, the practice of keeping large quantities of snakes for meat has begun to grow. The farmed snakes are typically set up in large barns surrounded by sun traps that help snakes bask in the sun.
The creator has shared many other clips of the snakes being cooked and eaten. In a similar clip, this influencer is seen stewing (cooked slowly in a small amount of liquid) the 12-foot python. The clip shows him putting the snake’s pieces mixed with gravy in the rice.
In the comments section, the creator commented that it tastes like stewed chicken. Users strongly objected to this dish cooked by the creator.
