Ghazal Alagh also stated that she has learnt this “amazing technique" from the founder of e-commerce behemoth Amazon, Jeff Bezos.

“Imagine your consumers sitting in every strategic meeting you hold. We at Honasa Consumer Ltd., keep one chair empty at each of our strategic meetings and assume that our consumers are sitting there. I learned this amazing technique from Jeff Bezos, and it’s improving decision-making standards at Honasa," the entrepreneur posted on LinkedIn.

Ghazal Alagh went on to explain how the strategy had helped her in the lines that followed. “Our goal is to be one of the market’s most consumer-conscious companies," she said in the final sentences. Towards the end, she concluded her post with a photo from her meeting room.

Within a few hours, the post had garnered over 2,200 reactions. The share has also received numerous reposts and comments.

A user on LinkedIn wrote, “Just like how Amazon does it!! It’s quite an interesting method."

Another commented, “I don’t assume I consider consumers in the meeting because the customer is the king".

Meanwhile, one user enquired about the meeting saying – “do you also keep employees in the room?" The user further stated, “I wish more entrepreneurs were as employee-conscious as they try to be customer-conscious. Because, at the end of the day, how your consumers feel is largely dependent on how your employees feel. Isn’t it?", he said. There were a few who even called this method a ‘Great Initiative".

Ghazal Alagh began her career as a corporate trainee at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT) in 2008. In 2012, she launched dietexpert.in, but it only lasted a year. She and her husband, Varun Alagh, co-founded Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd (Mamaearth), in 2016.

Mamaearth is a “toxin-free" skincare, haircare, and baby care company. According to a Business Today report from 2023, the husband-wife duo raised $52 million from global venture capital firm Sequoia Capital, valuing them at $1.2 billion. Mamaearth is currently regarded as one of India’s most rapidly developing direct-to-consumer brands.
