Tilak To Cake, Jharkhand Family Celebrates Pet Dog's Birthday Like A Child

Birthday celebrations are full of fun, excitement, gifting, eating cake and spending lots of time with family and friends. Generally, in Indian culture, elders apply tilak to the birthday person. After all, birthdays are a special occasion. In Jharkhand’s Koderma, a pet dog named Rocky’s birthday was celebrated with utmost pomp and joy. Just like a little child, Rocky’s birthday did not lack anything- from balloons, cakes, friends and family gathered and food.

On May 5, in Koderma, pet dog Rocky’s birthday was hosted which included a cake cutting, the house was decorated and people from his neighbourhood were also invited. After the cake was cut, there was a bash. Kaushalesh Kumar, a resident of Gaushala Road in Shiv Shakti Nagar, Jharkhand went out of the way to make sure their fur baby got the best birthday party ever.

The family began preparing for their pet’s birthday a week early. They placed an online order for a body belt, locket, special shampoo and conditioner and other things as his birthday gift. On May 5, the hall of the house was decorated with balloons and birthday ribbons.

On the birthday evening, Rocky was made to sit on the sofa adorning a cute birthday cap. Then the family members applied a red tilak on his furry forehead. Only after this, he got to cut the cake. They made sure their fur baby got the first slice and later the cake was distributed among the guests. After his cake cutting, Rocky was also given chive bones as gifts.

In an interview with Local18, Kaushalesh Kumar shared, “Rocky was brought from Dhanbad in the year 2018. He was quite small then.” He further added, “Over these last six years, Rocky has become an integral part of the family.” He added that the dog is like a child and before they leave for work in the morning, he plays with the family and even after returning from work in the evening. Kaushalesh further believes that Rocky kicks away stress from their household. He said that many times people keep dogs at home, so it is important to take care of their health as well.
