People from different regions plan for their trips to exotic and amusing places to have an escape from the routine lifestyle. While planning for such vacations, we all consider several things in mind. However, leaving something behind by mistake at times does not hamper the trip and enjoyment much. But missing out on something significant can lead to big results as well.
In a similar case, a man from Florida, US recently reported about his shocking surprise from the mobile connection operator which blew his mind after he came back from a vacation. According to reports, the man identified as Rene Remund, and his wife, Lynda who lives in Florida, went to their hometown, Switzerland.
They went to the European country and vacationed in the nostalgic environment and cherished Rene’s childhood memories. However, when the couple returned to Florida, they received a phone bill of $143,000 which is approximately Rs 1.20 crore.
The phone bill stunned the couple, as they had visited Switzerland previously as well, and this had never occurred before. According to Rene, he ensured contact with the mobile phone provider by visiting them in-store about their travels. However, the company did not stop the roaming charges on data.
As per reports, the couple took numerous pictures while on their vacation which they also shared with their friends and family members outside the country. Eventually, this made them billed for thousands which Rene received from the T-Mobile service operator after coming to Florida. Remund mentioned that at first, he thought it was $143 (approximately Rs 12,000).
According to the mobile phone bill, Remund used up 9.5 GB of data while he was in Europe. Although 5-10 GB of data is not a large amount, not being covered by the roaming fees has cost Rene thousands of dollars every day.
Following the confirmation from the service provider, Remund hired a lawyer to fight his side. His lawyer has issued a letter to the president of T-Mobile, to which the service providers are yet to answer.
