Vineeta Singh’s Touching Post On Guidelines For Doctors In West Bengal Wins Hearts
Vineeta Singh highlighted how the new guideline is worse for women's freedom and agency, adding that this is not the change society needs for women safety.

Despite years of independence, women’s safety continues to be a concern that haunts many. There have been nationwide protests demanding a new law to punish culprits following the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in West Benga’s RG Kar Hospital. Amid this, the Bengal government introduced a new guideline asking women to avoid working late at night. Disappointed by the government’s ‘convenient’ approach to putting more restrictions on women, the CEO of Sugar cosmetics, Vineeta Singh shared a post on Instagram where she wrote, “This is NOT the change women are seeking!”

In her post, Vineeta Singh noted, “This week the new West Bengal guidelines for doctors were introduced: “night duty may be avoided for women to the extent possible”. By next month institutions across the country would have done what’s always been the most convenient. Put thousands of MORE restrictions on girls because of course, boys will be boys!”

Vineeta Singh did not stop here and went on to highlight how the new guideline is worse for women’s freedom and agency adding that this is not the change society needs for the safety of women. The former judge of Shark Tank India continued to underscore that the government’s move is a message for women that they should not expect to be treated equally if they want to survive. Concluding her post with a powerful statement, she asserted, “If there are going to be curbs, they should be on boys so they don’t cross the finer lines before bad behaviour becomes a habit, not on girls.”

Vineeta Singh’s touching post has the internet agreeing with her as many dropped comments on the issue. A user stated, “’Cages are meant for the predators, not for the prey.” “Well said, totally agree,” added another.
