While it might seem tempting to pet a cute wild animal like a big cat, it’s actually a bad idea. Wild animals are unpredictable, and big cats are apex predators. No matter how adorable they appear, their instincts to hunt and attack are ingrained, and it is often advised to maintain a safe distance from them. They can aggressively react due to fear or excitement, and even a playful swipe can inflict serious injuries. Depicting something similar, a video has been making the rounds on social media where a man was captured trying to pet a lion in captivity.
Shared two days ago on micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), the viral video shows that the wild cat was simply under a leash inside the cage. However, what’s even more surprising was the man who himself was inside the cage when he tried to pet the giant.
Much to the man’s surprise, the incident went south, and the lion instantly responded to the seemingly unwanted pet. The furry one pounced back and began to go for the man. As the video progressed, it was visible that the lion even jumped at the man at one point, resulting in the man’s screams. Luckily, the big cat was then controlled by another man inside the cage, and the man ran for his life. The incident went viral in no time on social media and left people calling the consequences obvious.

Social media users were dumbfounded to see the clip, and they took to the comments section to share their take. A majority found the incident ‘not surprising,’ while some called the man lucky to be alive after the deadly attack. While others tweaked jokes, saying that the man would never touch any big cats anymore.
“His soul went to heaven and did a handshake with Yamraj!” a comment read.

Another added, “Did you expect something else? Obviously, the lion would have attacked the man. It’s a wild cat- WILD. He is lucky he is alive or not severely injured.”
“You see it’s jumping and going for his neck. That’s not playing. When a cat goes for the neck, it wants to kill you not trying to cuddle. Just need a swing of its 10 times stronger paw or a mild bite on the neck would be enough. Idiots,” wrote an individual.
