Mariana Kobayashi put a lot of stress on the importance of finding creative ways to apply for jobs, and encouraging others to explore unconventional methods to enhance their applications.

After being terminated from her position at LinkedIn, Mariana Kobayashi, an account executive, managed to secure employment at Google by employing an innovative video application. Utilising this method, she aimed to capture the attention of recruiters at Google Dublin, ultimately leading to her successful hiring in December of the previous year. Taking to LinkedIn, Kobayashi has now shared a post detailing her experience, stating, “I landed an interview at Google through a video. Here’s step by step how that happened. The best way to stand out when applying for a job is thinking about what everyone else is doing… and doing something else (in anything in life, really)! Please steal my method, and GOOD LUCK!"

She put a lot of stress and found creative ways to apply for jobs, and encouraged others to explore unconventional methods to enhance their applications.

In her one-minute video, she outlined her application process for a CSA position through a referral, sharing insights into her childhood experiences, previous employment, and professional background.

Since its publication, her post has garnered many likes and reactions from LinkedIn users. Comments praising her approach and resilience flooded in, with users commending her for leveraging the power of video to stand out as a candidate.

“Can I just say that I’m still bummed you only joined when I left," commented a user. “Go giiiiirl added another person. “I love this video and how your personality totally shines through!! truly harnessing the power of video to stand out as a candidate, I’m stealing this idea," a user commented.

“Even using the rejection as an idea for content and to get the attention of more potential employers is genius! Love this," remarked another viewer.

In an interview with Business Insider, she noted “I look at myself now and am proud of everything that happened. I’ve grown two levels in my career — which wouldn’t have been possible if I had stayed at LinkedIn — my salary has almost doubled, and I’m in a company that is much more suited to me."
