There are currently eight championships in the WWE main roster. Remarkably, within the course of WrestleMania 40 weekend, six of those titles changed hands. The main event of WrestleMania 40 was a singles match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, which the latter held at the time. The match was a culmination of a long feud between Rhodes and Reigns, which gave fans plenty of excitement over its course. Damian Priest, meanwhile, cashed in on his Money In The Bank contract to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Only two wrestlers successfully defended their titles at WrestleMania 40- Women’s World champion Rhea Ripley and United States champion Logan Paul.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Cody Rhodes

After winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes put an end to the former’s 1,316-day run as the title holder. It also brought an end to the ‘story’ between Rhodes and Reigns, with the American Nightmare overcoming the ‘Bloodline Rules’ after falling to a defeat at WrestleMania 39.

World Heavyweight Championship: Damian Priest

At WrestleMania 40, Damian Priest epitomised the word ‘unpredictability’ and got the better of Drew McIntyre to become the new World Heavyweight champion. McIntyre had won the title just moments earlier after beating Seth Rollins.

Women’s World Championship: Vacant

During a backstage exchange with Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley suffered an injury that required her to give up her Women’s World Championship. She kicked off the April 16 episode of Monday Night Raw by announcing that she would be relinquishing the title that she won at WrestleMania 39.

WWE Women’s Championship: Bayley

Bayley became the new women’s champion in WWE after defeating former Damage CTRL member Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 40.

Intercontinental Championship: Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn created history on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40 after defeating Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship, ending his record 666-day reign as the titleholder.

United States Championship: Logan Paul

Social media sensation Logan Paul’s stint in WWE has been full of thrilling moments thus far. He is the current holder of the United States Championship, which is his first WWE title since making his in-ring debut in 2022. In November last year, he defeated Rey Mysterio to win the title at Crown Jewel. He then successfully defended it against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 40.

World Tag Team Championship: The Miz & R-Truth

After a dispute with The Judgment Day, the Awesome Truth got back together more than ten years later. Miz and R-Truth were the two stars that emerged victorious in the six-pack ladder match on Night 1 of WrestleMania 40. On the latest episode of Monday Night RAW, the duo were presented with new belts and were renamed the World Tag Team champions.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Austin Theory & Grayson Waller

The reign of The Judgment Day as the unified tag team champions came to an end at WrestleMania 40 when Austin Theory and Grayson Waller’s A-Town Down Under emerged victorious in a six-pack ladder match.
