United States champion LA Knight kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown ahead of the upcoming Bash in Berlin. The German crowd went crazy when Knight entered the arena. He reminded fans that it was the first time in 27 years that a WWE show was taking place in Germany. The American superstar then put forward an open challenge for his United States Championship. Ludwig Kaiser came out and expressed his desire to go head-to-head against Knight on home soil.
Solo Sikoa later showed up and spoke about his rivalry with the OG Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso. The self-proclaimed Bloodline chief further mentioned that his team would support the one who wins the Undisputed WWE Championship match at Bash in Berlin.
That is when Cody Rhodes and Kevil Owens appeared at the arena to discuss the title clash. Owens asked Rhodes about his knee injury and the Champ confirmed that he was completely fine. The duo also talked about Owen’s surprise attack on Rhodes in the previous episode of SmackDown. In the end, Rhodes asked his opponent if their friendship would be impacted by the result of the fight. Owens said something in Rhodes’ ear before leaving the ring.
Let’s take a look at the results of the matches that took place on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown.
United States Championship match– LA Knight vs Ludwig Kaiser:
Ludwig Kaiser pulled off a dominant start as he thrashed the title holder into the corner of the ring before sending him outside. Back inside, LA Knight gained some momentum and launched a neckbreaker on his opponent. He then countered a DDT and struck a ‘side effect’ to retain the United States championship.
Baron Corbin & Apollo Crews vs Los Garza-
Apollo Crews struggled a bit early on but came back with a big assisted dive. Baron Corbin was called up and hit Berton with a running knee. He followed it up with a GTA-style neck drop on Angel. Santos Escober took advantage of a distraction and smashed Corbin into the steel steps. Los Garza then dished out their combined finisher to seal the deal.
Carmelo Hayes vs Andrade-
Carmelo Hayes mostly dominated the bout as he used Spanish Fly on Andrade before launching another top-rope move. Andrade was thrashed on the turnbuckle. Before he could bounce back, Hayes came up with the Nothin’ But Net and won the match.
WWE Women’s Championship match– Nia Jax vs Michin:
Michin looked keen to dethrone Nia Jax as she tried to use a kendo stick early on. She was arranging a table and chairs but the Champ was ready to counter. Michin then took a fire extinguisher and sprayed it on Jax. Tiffany Starton appeared at the ringside and hit Jax with her Money in the Bank suitcase. Bayley then came to the rescue and helped Jax launch a Samoan Drop on Michin. Jax followed it up with the Annihilator and wrapped up the match on a triumphant note.
