If you hail from Bihar and have graduated with Agricultural Science or Horticulture, you have a chance to get a government job in the state. Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced a recruitment drive for 318 Block Horticulture Officers under the Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar. The date for application had passed, but the commission has reopened the application window and extended the deadline to May 29. All eligible and interested male and female candidates can apply online at BPSC official website bpsc.bih.nic.in from May 23 to May 29. The recruitment of Block Horticulture Officers will be under the Directorate of Horticulture of the Agriculture Department.
The reopening of the application window followed an order from the Patna High Court. After recruitment to the post of Block Horticulture Officer, the salary will be as per the pay scale of Rs 25,000-81,100 under Pay Matrix Pay Level-4. The basic salary for the post is Rs 25,000. The age limit for the post of Block Horticulture Officer is 21 to 37 years. Reserved category candidates will be given relaxation in maximum age limit as per rules. The maximum age limit for backward class is 40 years, whereas for SC and ST category candidates, the maximum age limit is 42 years.
Applicants employed or working on contract will be given relaxation in the upper age limit by the number of years they have worked on contract or as employed. Candidates should have done BSc Horticulture or BSc Agriculture from a recognised university/college. The vacancies are as follows:

The selection for this position will be conducted through a written examination and an interview. The written exam will cover three subjects: General Hindi, General Knowledge, and Horticulture/Agriculture Science. The General Hindi and General Knowledge papers will each be worth 100 marks, while the Horticulture/Agriculture Science section will be worth 400 marks in total. The entire written exam will have a total of 600 marks. Each paper will have a duration of two hours. The Horticulture/Agriculture Science subject will be divided into two papers, each worth 200 marks.
