Its Advantage Russia, language not a barrier

CHENNAI: On Saturday, students considering higher education in professional courses got a look at what it would be like to study in Russia. At a day-long fair on educational opportunities jointly organised by the Russian Centre for Science and Culture and Study Abroad, a consultation firm, experts, academicians and professional consultants showed students the advantages of studying in Russia.The event, held at the Russian Cultural Centre, drew many students seeking post-graduate options - especially in medical and aviation engineering. Naresh, who will be completing his electrical and electronics engineering course from a city college next year, says, “A lot of universities in the UK and USA do not accept students with a basic engineering degree for advanced aviation studies. Some Russian varsities are open to this.”The group of academicians have have visited all the major Indian cities and were helpful in answering the queries of Chennai students. The major concern for most students was whether language would be a barrier - but going by the ease with which the professors conversed in English, they seemed satisfied.
