Police have claimed a breakthrough in the Kolkata triple murder with the husband Neil Fonseca "admitting" on Wednesday that he killed his wife and two teenaged sons.
Police sources said Fonseca confessed that he first killed his wife Jessica with a dumbbell and then their twin sons, Darren and Joshua, at their home in the upscale Palm Avenue locality.
Earlier the businessman had claimed that he hit his wife in self defence when she attacked him after killing their two sons.
43-year-old Jessica and her two sons were found dead on January 16. Fonseca, who was found seriously injured, is being treated at a hospital.
Police sources said he would be put under arrest as soon as he is discharged from hospital. The motive behind the murders is still unclear.
Police would question him why he bought a 20 pound dumbbell as this raised suspicion that the murder was preplanned.
Neighbours said the family had gone to party the night before the murders and that Neil and Jessica fought after it. The fights were reportedly over his alleged two-year-old affair with another woman.
The businessman also has a debt of over Rs 50 lakh which put him under severe stress
Jessica's mother and sister were present in the house along with her 21-year-old daughter Samantha on the day of the murder.
