BANGALORE:  Holding the Congress-led UPA Government responsible for the hike in the prices of essential commodities,  the Communist Party of India (M), CPI and All India Forward Block (AIFB) have called for a national bandh on May 31.Announcing this at the press conference here, state president of AIFB G R Shivashankar said, “While the prices of crude oil are decreasing, this move of the UPA government shows that it is insensitive towards citizens, who are already reeling under tremendous burden of increase in the prices of essential commodities. This is the 18th time, the UPA-led government has hiked the prices of petroleum products.”Pointing out that the state government is earning `23 crore per month as income out of the tax alone following the petrol price hike, state-president of CPI P V Lokesh stated, “The state tax component is very high in Karnataka when compared to other states.”
