HYDERABAD: The managing director and another official of a jewellery store at Punjagutta, which was inaugurated on Saturday by popular Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu, were arrested by the police for organising the function without taking prior permission for it and causing a traffic snarl on the busy arterial road during the peak traffic hours.The inaugural of Jos Alukkas showroom near Punjagutta Crossroads was scheduled at 11 am and customers, fans and passersby had gathered at the place in huge numbers well in time causing a traffic snarl. Mahesh Babu, who arrived late, and spent nearly an hour at the showroom after inaugurating it and the crowd had swelled further by then. The actor left the place around 12.30 pm. and it took some time for the police to restore order and traffic. Minutes after Mahesh Babu had left the place, a police team led by Punjagutta assistant commissioner of police J Subbarami Reddy went to the showroom and arrested John Alukka and Gangadhar. They were released later on bail.According to the police, the store owners had not obtained prior permission for conducting the event. Orders have been in place that commercial establishments which conduct promotional programmes have to take prior permission from the police as such events might create traffic and law & order problems.
