Four members of a family, including three children, were swept away in flash floods following heavy rains in Rannod village here, police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Tuesday night when the village was flooded and people began fleeing to safer places.

The victims--a mother and her three children--were swept away by heavy currents in front of their disabled father, who could not rescue them and clung to a tree branch to save himself. Their bodies have not been recovered so far, police said.

Due to excessive rains in the village, 125 kutcha houses also collapsed, leaving many people without shelter.
