Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has called Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra “Amul babies” and said people will rather visit Kaziranga National Park than seeing them.
“Why would the people of Assam go to see the Gandhi family’s ‘Amul babies’? Looking at them feels like they are appropriate for Amul’s campaign. People would rather go to Kaziranga and look at the tigers and rhinos,” Sarma said.

Reacting to the BJP leader’s remark, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said Sarma should not give statements which are against the dignity of the CM’s post.
“After he left Congress to join the BJP, the BJP does not trust them that’s why he keep saying such things. He should not give such statements,” he said.
Five Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam– Jorhat, Kaziranga, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur and Lakhimpur– going to the polls on April 19.
Earlier today in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed an election rally at the Borkura ground in Assam’s Nalbari. He asserted that he went to people with hope in 2014, trust in 2019 and guarantee in 2024.
The PM said that the birth celebrations of Lord Ram were being held in the temple at Ayodhya after 500 years with a ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony.
“Today Modi’s guarantee is going on in the entire country and the North East itself is a witness to Modi’s guarantee. The North-East, which was given only problems by Congress, has been transformed by the BJP into a source of possibilities. Congress fueled separatism and Modi made efforts for peace and security. What Congress could not do in 60 years, Modi did in 10 years…,” he said.
Modi was here to campaign for NDA candidates of three constituencies- Asom Gana Parishad’s Phani Bhushan Choudhury for Barpeta, United People’s Party, Liberal nominee Jayanta Basumatary for Kokrajhar and BJP’s Bijuli Kalita Medhi for Guwahati, who all were present at the rally.
