'I'm Here To Share Her Grief': Kalpana Soren Hugs Sunita Kejriwal In Show Of INDIA Bloc Unity

Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is currently in jail in connection with a money laundering case, met with Sunita Kejriwal, spouse of jailed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and expressed her solidarity stating that she understands the challenges and difficulties Sunita is currently facing.

This meeting took place on Saturday in the national capital, where Kalpana came to share her grief and join the collective fight of the opposition against Kejriwal’s arrest.

“I understand her problems, what she is going through, I experienced the same two months ago in Jharkhand when my husband was sent to jail. I am here to share her grief and take part in this collective fight,” said Kalpana Soren.

The heartfelt encounter between Sunita and Kalpana, captured in viral visuals, showcased an emotional moment as they greeted each other and embraced.

“The incident that took place in Jharkhand 2 months back, the same is now going on in Delhi. CM Arvind Kejriwal has also been sent to jail just like my husband Hemant Soren. I met Sunita Kejriwal ji and we decided that we would fight against this,” Kalpna Soren said after the meeting.x

In addition to meeting Sunita, Kalpana revealed her plans to meet with Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to discuss the ongoing situation in Jharkhand.

Soren will also attend the INDIA bloc’s rally in Ramlila Maidan, which is being organised to protest Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray lauded the courage of Sunita Kejriwal and Kalpana Soren and said that the world is watching the democracy being taken down in India.

“The courage of these 2 women- Kalpana Soren ji and Sunita Kejriwal ji! They know their husbands, elected Chief Ministers (1 resigned and 1 current), were arrested only because they are the formal opposition and did not bow down to the government. Our nation faces a real danger to our democracy and constitution,” Thackeray wrote on X.

About Kejriwal’s arrest, Sunita Kejriwal on Friday launched a WhatsApp campaign, ‘Kejriwal ko Aashirwad’, asking people to send their blessings and prayers, even as the AAP announced a mega rally at the Ramlila Ground against the BJP on March 31 to be addressed by top opposition leaders.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray of the Shiv Sena (UBT), Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Derek O’Brien of the TMC, Tiruchi Siva of the DMK, Farooq Abdullah of the NC, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren of the JMM are scheduled to attend the rally, the AAP said.

Sunita on Friday said the way Kejriwal was fighting against the “most corrupt and dictatorial forces” was exactly “how our freedom fighters fought the British tyranny”.

Meanwhile, Union minister Hardeep Singh Puri compared Sunita Kejriwal to former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi and said she is perhaps preparing to hold the post of her husband.

Kalpana’s husband and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren stepped down as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand in February moments before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him on allegations of money laundering.

Soren is facing charges of benefiting from tribal land transactions based on forged documents.
