Karnataka Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi landed in hot waters over his “students who chant Modi, Modi should be slapped” remark. The BJP has lodged a complaint against the Congress leader over the comment made during an election rally in Koppal on Sunday.
Shivaraj Tangadagi, while addressing the public, accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of not honouring its promise to create two crore jobs per year and said they should be “ashamed to ask for votes in the coming Lok Sabha elections”.
“They (BJP) should be ashamed, with what face are they coming to seek votes. They are incompetent to do even a single development work. They had promised to give two crore jobs. Did they give jobs to anyone? When asked for jobs they say — sell ‘pakoras’. They should be ashamed,” Tangadagi said, adding, ” Even then, if students say ‘Modi Modi’, they must be slapped.”
Senior BJP leader C T Ravi slammed the Congress over the Minister’s comments. “Realising that Congress is going to lose the upcoming Lok Sabha elections very badly, CONgis are stooping to new lows. And they call PM Modi a dictator!” CT Ravi said in an X post.
BJP leader Amit Malviya also reacted to the Karnataka Minister’s remark saying that political parties that have targeted the youth have not survived.
“Congress minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, who is the Minister of Culture in the Karnataka government, asks students, who chant slogans in favour of PM Modi, to be slappedâ€æ Just because Young India has rejected Rahul Gandhi, again and again, and wants PM Modi to lead the country, Congress will assault them? This is shameful. The contrast can’t be more obvious, with Prime Minister Modi investing in Young India and Rahul Gandhi’s Congress wanting to slap them,” Amit Malviya was quoted by India Today.
According to a PTI report, the BJP has filed a petition with the Election Commission seeking strict action against the Minister.
He should be barred from the election and campaigning, the BJP said, calling it a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
