Congress party suffered a major blow ahead of UP assembly elections on Thursday after former Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi joined BJP. Taking pot shots at the party leadership Joshi said that congress party has lost its reputation.

Joshi questioned congress vice president Rahul Gandhi’s leadership in presence of BJP president Amit Shah. "I was very upset over the Congress party's response on surgical strike and Rahul Gandhi's 'Khoon ki dalali' remarks," Joshi told media.

“Rahul Gandhi's leadership is not acceptable to people. With Rahul at the helm, nobody listens to us,” she further added.

However, Joshi is not the only one to have questioned Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. Here is a list of congress leaders who have questioned Rahul Gandhi in the past. Himanta Biswa Sarma

- In August 2015, former Congress minister in Tarun Gogoi’s ministry, Himanta Biswa Sarma joined BJP and called Rahul an “arrogant” man.

".. when you go to see him, it is a servant-master relationship which is disgusting. Either he has to change, or the Congress has to change him," Sarma had said.

"The problem is that when you talk to Rahul, the discussion becomes so light that even dogs come in between," he added.

- Former Union Minister Jayanti Natarajan left congress party in January 2015 alleging that even after repeated attempts Rahul Gandhi never gave her an appointment.

“I just got a reply from him stating, "I am a little busy, I will call you be back." That never happened,” Natarajan said.

Natarajan was reportedly not happy with the treatment meted out to her. “I tried several times to meet Rahul Gandhi and you (Sonia), but was not given an appointment. If my own party treats me so badly. Why should I blame him (Modi)? He was in opposition,” she had said.

- Former Uttrakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna switched his loyalty to the BJP in 2014 and hit out at congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for being inaccessible. "The Congress vice-president remained inaccessible to the party cadre,” he had said.

Bahuguna further went on to appreciate PM Modi and said he is more comfortable working with PM Modi that he was with Rahul.Krishna Tirath

- Former Union minister Krishna Tirath also left Congress party in January 2015 to join BJP. “I cannot tell what is deficient in his (Rahul’s) leadership. The Congress may be able to tell this better,” Tirath had said. V Kishore Chandra Deo

- In April 2015, former Union Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo had also taken a veiled dig at Rahul Gandhi’s leadership capabilities.

"The core issue is misuse of their positions by the oligarchs, distorting views of the party president and Vice President and misguiding them," Deo has said.

“Rahul Gandhi's intentions were good but his theoretical experiments, given the kind of system we have, boomeranged in practical terms,” he added.
